Artist Statement
I gather inspiration from nature and my surroundings. Growing up in South Florida, I was drawn to the vibrant colors, rich textures, and organic shapes around me. From the shape seashells or the petals on a flower to the hues of sunsets. Nature influences my work wherever I go. Translating these elements into my abstract paintings, blending organic shapes, textures, and colors to capture both the energy and tranquility of the world around me. My creative process is rooted in experimentation and a deep connection with my materials and techniques. I build layers of acrylic paint to create depth, incorporating sand-like textures and collage elements that create a tactile quality to my work. In many paintings I add pencil markings and palette knife techniques, I shape forms inspired by shells, rocks, plants, and flowers—blending imagination with nature’s raw beauty.
Color plays a central role in my creative process. Colors have the unique ability to convey feelings and emotions. By using bold colors and rough textures for energy, and softer blends and washes for calmness. With each piece, I hope to evoke a sense of connection, peace, and wonder.
